title
Residence Kaminoge
concept
Located in a residential area along Tokyu Line, the site is surrounded by a green environment encompassing the Gotoh Museum and Tama Art University.
To stay true to the low-rise residential area, the plan was to make 5 separate units of 2-story buildings.
The advantage of dividing the building by units is to avoid feeling of oppression to the surrounding cityscape and to allow placing windows on the exterior wall freely in each unit.
Community interaction can be expected to be developed between residents by the courtyard and the path, which happened to be produced by the division of the building.
In addition, placing a symbolic stone and a lantern from the original garden to the front facing the public road is expected to create a connection, and to remember the cityscape from old times to the present.
Connecting to the entrance of each unit, the“Doma,” or earthen floor, is a flexible space that can be used as inside or outside and may provide new insight of daily life.
